Walt McLaughlin, of St. Albans, Vermont, has hiked throughout the backcountry of the Northeast for nearly three decades, stopping long enough to write poetry and philosophical/naturalist essays and edit-publish others through his Wood Thrush Books. Timberline published two of his natural history essays (Wild Lilies and Natural Causes) in its Cedar Tick Natural History series as well as his collect5ion of poetry, A Hungry Happiness.
